Titre Sharon - stranger 185/200

Auteur The annual Turkey Trot held in Keyworth, Nottinghamshire, gave me an opportunity to add to my stranger tally. The race, a half marathon, had a starting time of 10:30am so I arrived about an hour earlier to give me a chance to ask some of the competitors if they’d be willing to be a stranger for me before they began warming-up and assembling at the start line. A fence holding back autumn coloured leaves provided a decent background and no sooner had I spotted this, than a young lady came towards me wearing a coat that had an orange collar, perfect I thought, the orange and brown of the leaves would make for a great colour combination, so I stepped forward and introduced the project to her. Taking the picture didn’t provide any problems, the sky was overcast at this point and the soft light it produced was easy to work with. Sharon told me she had been running for the last fourteen years, mainly in the Leicestershire area. Sharon is a triathlon competitor and trains at Race Hub, a club affiliated to British Triathlon, England Athletics and CTT (Cycling time trials), based very near Melton Mowbray. Sharon told me she had recently finished a very creditable 10th in her age group racing for Great Britain at the 2018 Glasgow ETU Triathlon European Championships. Before Sharon headed off to prepare for the Turkey Trot I asked her a couple more questions, the first being what the one thing was she couldn’t live without? Sharon thought for a moment and then said, ‘chocolate.’ Finally I enquired as to who her first star crush had been on which resulted in a big grin and the answer of Morten Harket, the lead singer from the band A-ha. Sharon finished in position 190 (out of 905 runners, both male and female of all age groups) with a chip time of 01:37:45. Thank-you Sharon for allowing me to interrupt your preparation time and for agreeing to become a stranger for me. I hope you like your portrait. This picture is #185 in the 100 Strangers project, yes, I’m doing a second 100.
